Belarus' agricultural export up by 4.4% in January-May

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarus' export of agricultural and food products in January-May 2020 went up by 4.4% year-on-year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

“In January-May 2020, Belarus' agricultural and food export rose by 4.4% to total $2.2 billion. The foreign trade surplus came at $135.9 million. Export of meat and meat products went up by 15.6% to $401 million, milk and dairy products – by 4.7% ($953.9 million), “ the press service informed.

Work continues to diversify exports. Belarusian food was supplied to 98 countries in January-May, which was 11 countries more than in the same period of 2019.

The Agriculture and Food Ministry stressed that Belarusian agricultural organizations and processing enterprises, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, continued their rhythmic work, increasing the flow of foreign exchange earnings. By the end of 2020, Belarus aims for $5.7 billion in agricultural and food exports, an increase of 4.2% as against 2019.
