Belarus' agricultural export to Syria up 2.1 times in 2019

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – The export of Belarusian agricultural products and foodstuffs to Syria amounted to $2.05 million in 2019, up 2.1 times year-on-year. The matter was discussed at the meeting of Belarus Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Igor Brylo with Charge d'Affaires of the Syrian Arab Republic to Belarus Muhannad Alloush, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Top on the agenda was trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Syria, in particular, supplies of dairy products and other foodstuffs to Syria.

Belarus' export to Syria in 2019 was dominated by skim milk powder, whey powder and potatoes. “A number of Belarusian companies are ready to increase supplies of milk powder and butter to the Syrian market. The parties are exploring possible ways to do it. The Meat and Dairy Company sent a commercial proposal to a number of Syrian partners,” the press service informed.
