Belarus' 2020 budget bill projects prices for Russian gas to remain unchanged

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – In line with the national budget bill for 2020, the price for Russian gas for Belarus is projected to remain the same as in 2019, Belarusian Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told reporters on 27 November, BelTA has learned.

“Our macroeconomic forecast is based on the baseline scenario of economic development. The price for gas is expected to remain the same as this year,” Maksim Yermolovich said.

In 2019 Belarus purchases Russian gas at $127 per 1,000 cubic meters.

The minister added that Minsk and Moscow are still in talks over the compensation for the losses Belarus incurred from the Russian tax maneuver. Another important topic is Belarus-Russia oil deal. “Talks never stopped, they are still ongoing. It is early to talk about results,” Maksim Yermolovich said.

A reminder, the Belarusian Energy Ministry expects a new roadmap for gas to be drafted by the end of next week.

The prime ministers of Belarus and Russia approved the draft action program to implement the Union State Treaty and a series of roadmaps. Now the parties need to draft 31 roadmaps to implement the action program. The Belarusian premier noted that the further integration is possible only when the most sensitive economic issues are resolved. These issues include prices for oil and gas, consequences of the tax maneuver, obstructed access to national markets, unequal support for manufacturers, including by means of subsidies and other matters.
