Agricultural output up by 4.9% in Belarus in 2020

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Agricultural output by all types of agricultural producers (agricultural companies, private farms, subsidiary plots) amounted to Br22.9 billion in 2020, up by 4.9% in comparable prices over 2019, BelTA learned from the National Statistical Committee.

Agricultural companies produced Br19.2 billion worth of products, up 6.9% in comparable prices over the previous year.

Minsk Oblast accounted for 24.6% of the output, Brest Oblast 20.2%, Grodno Oblast 16.5%, Gomel Oblast 14.5%, Vitebsk Oblast 12.6% and Mogilev Oblast 11.5%.

Farms produced 1.844 million tonnes of livestock and poultry, up 2.1% over 2019. Milk output totaled 7.765 million tonnes (up 5%). The gross output of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 8.769 million tonnes, rapeseed 731,3000 tonnes, potatoes 5.231 million tonnes, vegetables 1.75 million tonnes, sugar beet 4.01 million tonnes, flax fiber 47,800 tonnes.

Agricultural companies account for 95.8% of the country's livestock and poultry production in live weight, as well as 96.7% of milk, 83% of eggs, 94.2% of grain, 96.4% of rapeseed, 10% of potatoes and 12% of vegetables.

The total area under crops of all types of agricultural producers neared 6 million hectares in 2020. Agricultural companies accounted for 90.7% of this area, farms 2.8%, subsidiary plots 6.5%.
