
MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Access to and the quality of payment services are getting better in Belarus. Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) Pavel Kallaur made the statement during a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
Pavel Kallaur said: “The improvement of the market of payment services continues. The legal environment in this field was substantially updated in 2022. The law on payment systems and payment services was passed and a package of laws and regulations in its furtherance was developed.”
In his words, the new legislation allowed increasing access to and quality of payment services in addition to ensuring the decrease in their cost thanks to emergence of new kinds of such services and thanks to the arrival of non-banking organizations on the market. “Thanks to efforts to protect rights of people consuming payment services consumers can now get full information about a service before the service is provided,” the official remarked.
