About 90% of rapeseed areas harvested in Belarus

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarus has harvested 304,600 hectares of areas planted to rapeseed, which is 89.1% of the total area, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 2 September, Belarus harvested 638,800 tonnes of rapeseed. The average yield came at 21 centners per hectare, while in 2018 it was 16.1 centners per hectare. The Belarusian government has procured 116,600 tonnes of rapeseed, which accounts for 58.3% of the rapeseed procurement target for 2019.

Belarus has so far harvested 2.1 million hectares planted to grain crops (excluding maize), which accounts for 98.9% of the total area. All in all, 6,509,000 tonnes of grain have been produced so far. The average yield is 31.1 centners per hectare (26.4 centners per hectare in 2018). Minsk Oblast is a leader, with 1.7 million tonnes of grain harvested. Brest Oblast follows with 1.2 million tonnes. Grodno Oblast has produced almost 1.19 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – over 960,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – over 775,000 tonnes, and Gomel Oblast – over 685,000 tonnes.

As of 2 September, the Belarusian government has procured 755,000 tonnes of grain, which accounts for 92.7% of the country's grain procurement target for 2019.
