100 Belarusian stores to open in China before yearend

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – One hundred stores of Belarusian goods will open in the biggest cities of China before the end of 2018, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian embassy in China.

The opening ceremony of the store of Belarusian goods in Guiyang took place on 16 August during the visit of Belarusian Ambassador to China Kirill Rudy to Guizhou Province. “A network of stores of Belarusian products under the Belarus Commodity Center brand has been developed by China's Guangdong Xinjinlai Trade from Guangdong Province. This store has become the second in the network. Before the end of 2018, the company plans to open 100 stores of Belarusian goods in the largest cities of China,” the embassy said.

An agreement was also reached to place Belarusian alcohol products within the well-known network of Chinese stores Moutai. The company has already opened its representative office in Belarus to purchase Belarusian products, check the quality of products and organize supply logistics.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kirill Rudy noted that the development of the network of direct sales of Belarusian products would guarantee not only fair prices, quality and the absence of counterfeit goods but would also create conditions for the efficient organization of the Belarusian national exposition at the China's international EXPO in Shanghai in November 2018.

The product tasting event on 15 August marked the arrival of the first container with Belarusian beef to Chengdu. Attending the degustation were more than 30 heads of the country's leading beef companies. The event also showcased Chinese dishes prepared from Belarusian beef.

The beef batch was delivered under the contract signed between Veles-Meat and China's Chengdu Yunda Trade and the Chinese trade and investment company Great Silk Road. The Belarusian ambassador noted that the arrival of the container is an important step in the development of trade cooperation between Sichuan Province and Belarus, and demonstrates the active participation of Belarusian companies in the development of Chinese container land routes within the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative.

While in Sichuan Province, Kirill Rudy met with the Qingbaijiang District vice mayor. The parties discussed the expansion of possibilities to use the Qingbaijiang bond zone and the Chengdu-Europe container railway route to further increase the supplies of Belarusian agricultural products to Sichuan Province.
