2019 Minsk European Games

Belarus was voted to host the Second European Games in 2019 at the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Minsk in October 2016.

The agreement provides for the prompt coverage of the preparation and conduct of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 in a broad multimedia format in six languages (Russian, Belarusian, English, Spanish, German, Chinese) at BelTA's online resources (belta.by, belarus.by).

Silver medals were clinched by Vladislav Andreyev (57kg weight category), Niurgun Skriabin (65kg), Georgy Koliyev (70kg), Denis Khromenkov (97kg). Bronze medals went to Andrei Bekrenev (61kg) and Andrei Karpach (74kg).

European Games venues to go smoke-free

“We are planning to restrict smoking at the sports venues hosting the competitions and also near the hotels accommodating guests and participants of the games,” Olga Bartman noted.

The mascot of the 2nd European Games, Lesik the Baby Fox, will take part in the LTEAM Winter Challenge 2019 that will take place in Lithuania's Druskininkai in February.

European Games Athletes' Village to open in mid June

The official opening of the village in Dzerzhinskogo Avenue is slated for 18 June. “Delegation heads and team managers will be able to settle in and check living conditions on 15 June,” the manager noted.

Over 20,000 tickets sold for Minsk European Games

Sport fans from 28 countries have already bought 20,350 tickets. There is a total of 381,000 tickets available for 120 event sessions of the games.

During the 2nd European Games about 6,500-7,000 athletes and staff will be fed on a daily basis. Belarus' best catering specialists will be brought in to help in the Games' kitchens.
