Yermakovich: BATE showed their best against Roma

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – FC BATE Borisov showed their best in the game against Roma, BATE head coach Alexander Yermakovich told media after the UEFA Champions League group stage game where BATE beat Italy's Roma 3-2, BelTA has learned.

“We showed an organized and disciplined game in the first half. We produced good counterattacks. Filip Mladenovic had one of the best games in his career. His goals are the pride of this game. My men were confident and believed in themselves. The second half was not as smooth as we would like it to be. We performed to the top of our abilities in the game against Roma. It is great to beat a high-ranking team. I believe we deserved the victory,” said Alexander Yermakovich.

Successful left-wing attacks put the Borisov players 3-0 up by the half-hour mark. Alexander Yermakovich assured that the move was not a set piece.

“We did not focus on left-wing attacks only. The offense should produce results at the both wings of the field. We know that Mladenovic plays more in offense than Denis Polyakov. Filip also has a good shot,” the BATE coach said.

Elsewhere, two late goals secured a 2-1 comeback for Barcelona against Leverkusen.

BATE will next host Barcelona, and Leverkusen will take on Roma on 20 October.
