MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarusian and Russian volunteers will exchange experience in the run-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 under an agreement between the 2019 European Games Directorate and the Russia 2018 Local Organizing Committee, BelTA learned from the press service of the directorate.
Fifty Belarusian volunteers are expected to visit the 2018 FIFA World Cup host cities to gain experience in 20 functional fields. The training program will run from one to two months. The Belarusians will assist with media relations, greeting and accommodating the guests and participants, arranging catering, marketing, services for the spectators, managing facilities, and other things. They will also take part in a general training program in Moscow in April 2018. In turn, the 2019 European Games Directorate is ready to welcome and train volunteers from Russia, who will help with different activities during the 2nd European Games.
According to the directorate, Belarusians and Russians arranged the first joint event in late March 2018. Back then, young Belarusian volunteers joined the team that organized a friendly between Russia and Brazil.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will take place in 11 cities from 14 June to 15 July.
Minsk will host the Second European Games on 21-30 June 2019. The Games will feature 15 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, wrestling (freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women's wrestling), cycling (track and road), gymnastics (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, and trampoline), rowing (kayak and canoe competitions), judo, karate, track and field athletics, sambo, archery, shooting (including clay target shooting), table tennis, and beach football. The Second European Games will hold 189 medal events in 23 sport disciplines. The competitions will take place at 12 sport venues.More about Sport
