MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – Former No. 1-ranked Viktoria Azarenka (Belarus) and Serena Williams (USA) have been awarded wild cards for the Miami Open, a tennis tournament with a prize pool of more than $7 million, BelTA informs.
Victoria Azarenka will take part in the second WTA event after the recent hiatus. In March, she lost her Indian Wells second-round encounter. The Belarusian has captured three Miami Open titles (in 2009, 2011, and 2016). Serena Williams, who lifted the trophy eight times, is ready to make a playing comeback after giving birth to daughter.
The Miami Open wild card list also includes Ajla Tomljanovic, Amanda Anisimova, Claire Liu, Whitney Osuigwe, Bernarda Pera, and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.More about Sport
