Verameyenka, Leuchanka join Belarus' basketball training camp

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian basketball national team have resumed preparations for the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers, BelTA informs.

According to the press service of the Belarusian Basketball Federation, on 5 February the players of the national championship were joined by the Belarusian leaders playing for foreign clubs. These are Anastasiya Verameyenka (BC Fenerbahce, Turkey), Yelena Leuchanka, Katsiaryna Snytsina (Hatay BB, Turkey), Maryia Papova (BC Botas, Turkey), Tatsiana Likhtarovich (BC Rutronik Stars Keltern, Germany), Alex Bentley (BC Nadezhda Orenburg), Aliaksandra Tarasava (Basketball Nymburk, Czech Republic), Maryna Ivashchanka (BK Liepвjas Lauvas, Latvia), Yuliya Rytsikava (Gorzow, Poland). They have joined the players of the best Belarusian clubs: Maryia Filonchyk, Alena Holubeva, Hanna Brych, Volha Ziuzkova (BK Gorizont Minsk), Viktoryia Hasper (BK Tsmoki Minsk), and Arina Masko (SBK Olimpia Grodno).

Belarus will face Turkey in the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers at the Minsk Sport Palace on 10 February. On 14 February, Belarus will take on Poland. In November 2017 the Belarusian national team had a successful start in Group B, beating Poland 70-62 in Walbrzych and seeing off Estonia 80-63 in Minsk. Turkey outplayed Estonia 81-56 and defeated Poland 73-53 in the first round.
