MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Vera Lapko of Belarus has reached the main draw of the Samsung Open clay tournament in Lugano, Switzerland, BelTA has learned.
In the second round of qualifying the Belarusian world number 130 defeated Cagla Buyukakcay of Turkey 6-2, 6-4.
The main draw will feature two more Belarusian players. Aryna Sabalenka will face Romania's Mihaela Buzarnescu and Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who is still waiting for her rival to go through qualifying.
In Morocco's Marrakesh Belarus' world number 123 Ilya Ivashko failed to reach the main draw after losing to Spain's world number 228 Pedro Martinez 5-7, 5-7 in the second round of qualifying.
