U.S. school students make postcards for Belarusian Olympians

MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – The National Olympic Committee of Belarus has received a letter from school students of Edgar, Wisconsin, who have made postcards for Belarusian Olympians, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.

“Before every Olympic Games all schools in the American state of Edgar choose countries to root for during the Games. Our students chose three countries: Belarus, Poland and Switzerland. Every day we discuss interesting facts about these countries. The geographic position, the country's outstanding persons, language features, national cuisine and many more,” wrote school teacher Colin Hanson.

One of the school students wrote greetings both in English and Belarusian. “Dear Olympic Athlete. My name is Emma and I am from Wisconsin. I am also 50% Belarusian. I hope you do well and go Belarus. Sincerely, Emma.” Several more fifth grade students extended their wishes as well.

Belarus won three medals at the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang. Anna Guskova clinched the champion title in the Ladies' Aerials. Biathlete Darya Domracheva claimed silver in the Women's Mass Start. The Belarusian biathlon team of Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Dinara Alimbekova and Darya Domracheva took gold in the Women's Relay.
