University sports associations of Belarus, Poland sign memorandum of cooperation

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Association of University Sports and the Polish University Sports Association (AZS) have inked a memorandum of cooperation, BelTA informs.

The document envisages active cooperation between the two organizations in physical education and sports. The memorandum was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian Association of university Sports Alexander Bogdanovich and AZS Secretary General Bartlomiej Korpak.

“The AZS has an interest in close contacts with the Belarusian association. Our young people are watching the development of sports in Belarus with great interest. They are ready for competitions. We plan to hold tournaments in different sports in Polish and Belarusian cities every year. Your large universities have a modern infrastructure which may come in handy international tournaments,” Bartlomiej Korpak noted.

The AZS is turning 110 in 2018. According to Alexander Bogdanovich, the Belarusian association can learn something from its Polish colleagues and share experience with them. “The Belarusian Association of University Sports is ready to expand cooperation with the AZS. Our Western partners have a long track record in holding competitions in university sports. I think our experience will also be useful for our colleagues. We will be happy to welcome Polish athletes at Belarusian sports facilities,” Alexander Bogdanovich remarked.

Set up in November 2012, the Belarusian Association of University Sports comprises all higher education institutions in the country.
