United States win 2018 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup in Minsk

MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – The United States clinched the champion title of the 2018 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup in Minsk, BelTA informs.

The United States beat France 92-40 to take gold. This is the fourth gold for the United States in this age category.

Bronze went to Australia that edged Hungary 57-51.

Belarus saw off Angola 70-58 to place 15th. Viktoria Datsun's team defeated Colombia 79-75 and lost to Japan 52-104, France 34-64, Italy 50-65, and Argentine 58-61.

Italy defeated Spain 65-58 to place 5th. Japan finished 7th after beating Latvia 75-57. Canada placed 9th defeating Mali 58-50. 11th was China after defeating New Zealand 88-66. Argentine beat Colombia 51-47 to finish 13th.

The FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup is held once in two years. The 2016 edition was won by Australia. The other editions were won by the United States (2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018).
