United States, Canada, Mexico to co-host 2026 FIFA World Cup

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The decision was taken at the FIFA congress in Moscow on 13 June, BelTA informs.

The joint bid received 134 votes, or 67% of the vote. Morocco received 65 votes, or 33%.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the first championship to include 48 teams. The United States hosted the World Cup in 1994. Mexico hosted it twice in 1970 and 1986.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in 11 cities of Russia from 14 June to 15 July. Qatar will host the championship in 2022.
