Torpedo Zhodino off to a good start in UEFA Europa League second qualifying round

MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – Torpedo Zhodino beat Hungarian Debrecen in the first leg match of the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round on 14 July, BelTA has learned.

Playing away the Belarus Cup winners were considered outsiders and already allowed a goal by Tibor Tisza in the second minute. It seemed that the worst-case predictions were coming true, but Igor Kriushenko's side were not going to give up. Although the hosts were more in possession, Torpedo defended in a calm way and managed to tie on 23 minute thanks to a goal from Sergey Zaginaylov. The winner came from Evgeny Klopotsky on 88 minute.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk scored a 1-1 draw in a match against Slovenia's Domzale. Dinamo Minsk also had a tie 1-1 against St Patrick's Athletic.

Second leg games to advance to the Europa League third qualifying will be held on 21 July.
