Tikhon, Boreisha qualify for hammer throw final in Berlin

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Ivan Tikhon and Pavel Boreisha have qualified for the men's hammer throw final at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, BelTA informs.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian national team, 42-year-old Ivan Tikhon placed nine with 74.67m in the qualifying. Pavel Boreisha threw 76.47 to place behind Hungary's Bence Halasz (76.81m) and Poland's Pawel Fajdek (77.86m). Belarus' Gleb Dudarev failed to qualify finishing 18th with 72.19m among 30 competitors.

The men's hammer throw final is due at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on 7 August.

Taking part in the 2018 European Athletics Championships are nearly 1,600 athletes from 50 countries. Belarus has fielded 38 athletes.
