Several pilots bring their own helicopters to World Helicopter Championship in Belarus

MINSK, 24 July (BelTA) – Pilots from Austria, Poland and Russia will use their own helicopters during the 2018 FAI World Helicopter Championship, Chairman of the Belarusian Aviation Sport Federation Alexander Tsenter told reporters on 23 July, BelTA has learned.

“Any aviation event is quite challenging from the organizational point of view. Nevertheless, we have all the necessary competencies, means and government support. Participants from Austria, Poland and Russia have flown their own helicopters to Belarus. These are interesting, beautiful and diverse aircraft. We will see them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,” Alexander Tsenter said.

The 2018 FAI World Helicopter Championship will open on the Lipki airfield on 24 July. Taking part in the competition will be about 36 crews from different countries. Russia's delegation is the biggest with 13 crews. Other participating countries include Poland, Austria, Germany, China and Ukraine. Seven crews from Belarus will compete for the title. Women's crews till take part in the competition for the first time.

The championship will include competitions in slalom, cargo unloading, navigation and precision events, relays, and other disciplines.

Helicopter racing will take place during the #Pronebo aviation festival. The event will be held on the Borovaya airfield; the entrance will be free. The festival and the world championship will be the final events related to the aviation sport on the Borovaya airdrome.
