MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – World No. 56 Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus lost to world No. 8 Caroline Garcia from France 3-6, 7-5, 2-6 in the third round of Austrian Open, BelTA has learned.
At the start of the Australian Open Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Christina McHale of the United States (World No.73) 6-3, 6-2 and saw off word No. 30 Mirjana Lucic-Baroni of Croatia 6-3, 6-1 in the second-round match.
In the men's doubles event Andrei Vasilevsky of Belarus and Hans Podlipnik Castillo of Chile beat Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut of France 7-6 (7-1), 5-7, 7-6 (8-6) to reach the third round.
The Chinese-Belarusian team of Shuai Peng and Max Mirnyi lost to the Czech-French duo of Andrea Sestini Hlavackova-Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the mixed doubles opener 6-4, 6-4.
