MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 106 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has advanced into the second round of the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic, BelTA has learned.
In the opener against world number 48 Madison Keys of the United States the Belarusian won the first set 6-4 and was leading 2-0 in the second when the rival withdrew. In the second round Aliaksandra Sasnovich will face Kazakhstan's world number 17 Elena Rybakina.
Former world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, currently ranked 34, will open the event against world number 49 Zhang Shuai of China.
World number 136 Olga Govortsova of Belarus lost 2-6, 2-6 to Germany's Andrea Petkovic (World No.64).
Belarus' world number 112 Egor Gerasimov will face Canada's world number 68 Vasek Pospisil in the round of Last 32 at Sofia Open. The Belarusian had to go through the qualifying round to reach the main draw. Belarus' world number 45 Ilya Ivashka will face world number 92 Pablo Andujar of Spain.
The tournaments in Chicago and Sofia will be over on 3 October.
