Russia, Belarus to bid to co-host Men's EHF Euro 2022

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – The Russian and Belarusian Handball Federations plan to bid to co-host the 2022 Men's EHF European Handball Championship. The decision was made at the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Russian Handball Federation. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Belarusian Handball Federation Vladimir Konoplev.

The two federations have been instructed to set up a working group to prepare the joint bid file. “The idea has been supported by the President of Belarus and the Sport Minister. We are ready to cooperate on the matter,” Vladimir Konoplev said.

Head of the Russian Handball Federation Sergei Shishkarev stressed that the European Handball Federation showed interest in Russia and Belarus' co-hosting the 2022 Men's EHF European Handball Championship. “We have six months to coordinate the bid at all the levels. We have all chances to win the race,” he noted.
