Poor play in offense named main reason for HC Dinamo Minsk's failures this season

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk's poor offensive output was the main reason behind the team's failures in the KHL championship this season, HC Dinamo Minsk head coach Gordie Dwyer said at a postgame press conference after the Bisons' 2-3 loss to Admiral on 22 January, BelTA informs.

The latest defeat in the game against the team from Vladivostok shut the door on Dinamo's hopes of making the KHL postseason. The head coach named the poor play in the offense as one of the reasons why the team would not make it into the playoffs this year. “There are players who scored 40% of the team's goals in the season. In the KHL it is difficult to count on several leaders throughout the season. We also have players that do their best and are useful to the team. Fans could see how the team was evolving during the season. We were in a constant search for the best play in the offense,” Gordie Dwyer said.

According to the head coach, Dinamo needs to improve its play in the offense, and if the North American specialist stays with the team, he will be working exactly on this. “The focus in midseason should be on the search for forwards. These will be not only foreign players but also Belarusian players who will be able to make the team's offense stronger,” the head coach said.

With 67 points, Dinamo Minsk is 10th in the West. The Bisons still have three games to play before wrapping up the season.

Dinamo Minsk have made the Gagarin Cup postseason four times. Every time the team was eliminated from contention in the playoff first round.
