Plans to adopt single training methodology for young football players in Belarus

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Belarus plans to adopt a single training methodology for young football players, Sergei Rumas, Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB), Chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation, told the media following the meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 15 February, BelTA has learned.

The meeting brought together senior staff of the Belarusian Football Federation and famous Belarusian coaches. They submitted their proposals to the president to develop football. “They are related to training programs at children and youth sports schools, children and youth Olympic schools, and the National Olympic Training Center. Today the federation needs to discuss these proposals and put them on paper. The head of state said he is ready to support them if it is necessary to adopt some laws. He also warned that the federation will have a bigger responsibility,” Sergei Rumas remarked.

He stressed that the BFF is ready to take on the responsibility in this case because a single training methodology for young athletes will do good for the Belarusian football.

Today many sports schools do not have a single customer. “Some classes may train with coaches that are not competent enough. Some may not have an appropriate training methodology. On the other hand, the federation has plenty of experience. We have the football academy that trains four groups of boys and a technical center that has accumulated the best knowledge with regard to the training of young football players. The proposal to share all the methodological best practices that we have with all schools across the country has been supported,” Sergei Rumas said.

According to him, the meeting participants agreed that coaching work with children and young people is the foundation on which the future of the Belarusian football should rely.

The changes will also affect the Belarusian Football Federation. “The head of state criticized the work with the personnel. The president is well familiar with the situation. He assesses the performance of the managerial staff not only at the level of the head of the federation but also his deputies, the secretary general. Of course, we were rightfully criticized for the mistakes that we made. Therefore, we will make suggestions on the ways to correct the situation,” Sergei Rumas noted.

Sergei Rumas noted that most likely he will step down as the head of the federation next year. He believes that it should be led by a man who can devote all his working time to football. However, Sergei Rumas expressed readiness to continue to lead the supervisory board of the Belarusian Football Federation.
