Pavel Sankovich wins bronze at FINA World Cup Berlin 2017

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmer Pavel Sankovich claimed the men's 100m backstroke bronze at the FINA World Cup Berlin 2017, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian touched in 50.70 seconds to finish third. The event was won by Poland's Radoslaw Kawecki in 49.97 seconds. Second was Masaki Kaneko of Japan (50.29).

Evgeny Tsurkin of Belarus clocked 1:54.79 in the men's 200m butterfly qualifying. The Belarusian finished eighth in the final (1:55.05).

Ilya Shimanovich showed Belarus' new record time of 26.16 seconds in the men's 50m breaststroke qualifying. In the final the Belarusian finished fourth in 26.06. Cameron van der Burgh of the Republic of South Africa clinched gold in 25.49 seconds. Second came in Italy's Fabio Scozzoli (25.77), with bronze going to Russia's Kirill Prigoda (25.86).

Earlier, Evgeny Tsurkin finished second in the men's 50m butterfly, Ilya Shimanovich claimed bronze in the men's 100m breaststroke.

The third FINA World Cup will take place in Eindhoven on 11-12 August.
