Paralympian Svetlana Sakhonenko clinches second gold in PyeongChang

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Svetlana Sakhonenko of Belarus collected her second gold medal at the 12th Winter Paralympic Games in PyeongChang, BelTA informs.

The Belarusian clocked 4:29.9 to claim the Women's 1.5km Sprint Classic Final, Visually Impaired champion title. Second was Russia's Mikhalina Lysova, 14.1 seconds back. Bronze went to Oksana Shyshkova of Ukraine, 15.7 seconds back.

Earlier, Svetlana Sakhonenko won the Women's 15km Free, Visually Impaired and clinched bronze in the Women's 6km, Visually Impaired (biathlon).

Today, Dmitry Loban of Belarus clinched the Men's 1.1km Sprint, Sitting silver. Lidiya Grafeyeva finished fourth in the Women's 1.1km Sprint Final, Sitting.

Belarus is currently eighth in the PyeongChang Paralympics medal count with nine (three gold, four silver and two bronze) medals.

The 12th Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang will be over on 18 March.
