MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Leader of the Belarusian swimming team Aleksandra Gerasimenya failed to make the 100m freestyle final at Rio 2016 Games, BelTA has learned.
In the semifinal the Belarusian swam 54.34 seconds to rank 13th following two semifinal heats.
Cate Campbell of Australia set a new Olympic record to clock 52.71 seconds. Appearing in the final will also be Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands (her time is 53.42), a two-time champion of the 2012 London Games. The 100m freestyle medal event is scheduled for 12 August.
Aleksandra Gerasimenya is also expected to compete in the 50m freestyle event.
