Ole Einar Bjorndalen 2nd in Belarus Open Summer Biathlon sprint

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjorndalen finished second in the Men's Sprint during the Belarus Open Summer Biathlon Championships in Raubichi, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Biathlon Federation.

The eight-time Olympic champion shot clean to finish four seconds behind Belarus' Yuri Lyadov who claimed the Belarusian champion title with a time of 24:12.5 seconds. Third came in Vytautas Strolia of Lithuania. According to the Norwegian biathlete, Norway was gearing up to host the similar competitions, and it was important for the athlete to get practice of the kind. Ole Einar Bjorndalen said that the rivals in Belarus are very good. The athlete also liked the track, not easy and with good covering, and the shooting that is practiced in difficult windy conditions.

Nadezhda Skardino celebrated the victory in the Women's Sprint. Her time is 21:04.6 seconds. Second was Anastasia Duborezova, with Darya Yurkevich coming in third.

The Belarus Open Summer Biathlon Championships in Raubichi will be over on 22 September.
