Ole Einar Bjoerndalen to feature in Legends Race in Belarus

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - Eight-time Olympic champion Ole Einar Bjoerndalen will feature in the Legends Race biathlon festival in the Raubichi Olympic Center on 18 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Biathlon Federation.

Twenty famous athletes who showed great results during their sports careers will take part in the festival. One of them is biathlon legend Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, the husband of Darya Domracheva, the four-time Olympic biathlon champion from Belarus, the inspirer of the Legends Race.

The list of participants: Andriy Deryzemlya (Ukraine), Lars Berger (Norway), Florence Baverel (France), Simone Hauswald (Germany), Nadezhda Skardino (Belarus), Halvard Hanevold (Norway), Anna Bogaliy (Russia), Vincent Defrasne (France), Sergei Chepikov (Russia), Frode Andresen (Norway), Sergei Novikov (Belarus), Alexander Popov (Belarus), Corinne Niogret (France), Elena Zubrilova (Belarus), Karin Oberhofer (Italy), Ekaterina Dafovska (Bulgaria), Pieralberto Carrara (Italy) and Olena Petrova (Ukraine).

The organizing committee has issued a schedule of the upcoming event: a master class for the finalists of the Snow Sniper national biathlon tournament for children and youth and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation Cup at 14.00; an autograph session of the Legends Race participants in the sport hall at 15.30.

The opening ceremony of the race and the IBU Open European Championships will begin in Raubichi at 17.00. Women's mass start is scheduled for 17.50, men's mass start for 18.15, and the mixed relay for 18.45. The sports festival will wrap up with the awards ceremony for winners of the Legends Race, the Snow Sniper national biathlon tournament for children and youth and also a ceremony to pay homage to Darya Domracheva and Nadezhda Skardino as they retired from biathlon.
