New EOC logo presented in Minsk

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – A new logotype of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) was presented in Minsk during a welcome reception in the Marriott Hotel on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

Representatives of each of 50 delegations, who arrived in the Belarusian capital to attend the 45th EOC General Assembly, were given envelopes with fragments of the organization's new logo. During the welcome reception the parts of the emblem were attached to a magnetic board producing an integral image.

“The main goal in the work on the new logo was not just to change the emblem but to convey through the new logotype a new EOC vision on the development of the Olympic movement,” noted EOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi.

The General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees is underway in Minsk on 20-22 October. The EOC Executive Committee meeting and the presentation of the organization's new logo took place on the first day. The Hall of Olympic Glory of Belarus' National Olympic Committee will be the main venue of the EOC General Assembly on 21-22 October. On Friday, 21 October, the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater will host a gala to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus. The event will bring together champions and prizewinners of the Olympic Games, coaches and specialists, famous athletes, delegates and guests of the General Assembly.

More than 80 Belarusian and 20 foreign media representatives have been accredited to cover the 45th EOC General Assembly. Among them are The Associated Press, Reuters, Rossiya Segodnya news agency, the German TV station WDR. A stylized Belarusian cornflower is the logo of the 45th EOC General Assembly in Minsk.
