Morocco presents 2026 FIFA World Cup bid in Minsk

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – A Moroccan delegation presented their 2026 FIFA World Cup bid at the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, BelTA informs.

The delegation met with NOC First Vice President Andrei Astashevich and NOC Secretary General, Director of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 Directorate George Katulin. The parties discussed the possible bilateral cooperation between the national Olympic committees and shared the experience in bidding to host big sport events. The Moroccan side showcased the country's capabilities of hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Morocco NOC officials noted that they will be happy to use Belarus' experience in hosting international sport events.

“Azerbaijan Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov and EOC Coordination Commission Chairman Spyros Capralos assured me that Belarus can serve as an example of how to organize international sport events. After my visit to Minsk I can say that you can host the tournaments of the highest level. I hope I will manage to visit the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games in Minsk and some competitions. I look at Belarus, and I hope we can achieve something like that in Africa. Morocco is ready to cooperate with Belarus' NOC, and I hope that this meeting with pave the way to stronger cooperation,” IOC member, Olympic champion in athletics Nawal El Moutawakel said.
