MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes will have no problems with adaptation in Pyeongchang that will be hosting the 23rd Winter Olympic Games on 9-25 February, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism, chief of the Belarusian mission to the winter games Alexander Baraulya told the media on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
“Recommendations have been developed for acclimatization and adaptation in the region. Many of Belarusian athletes who claim to take part in the Olympics, participated in trial competitions in biathlon, aerials and other sports last season. The national speed skating team showed good results. Vitaly Mikhailov was fourth and Marina Zuyeva – sixth at the World Speed Skating Championship in Pyeongchang. The Belarusian delegation knows very well what climatic and weather conditions they will have in Pyeongchang,” stressed Alexander Baraulya.
According to the chief of the mission, Belarusian athletes will undergo all necessary anti-doping procedures ahead of the Games. “The National Anti-Doping Agency has also developed a series of monitoring events in the education sector,” the deputy minister said.
At the 2014 Winter Olympics Belarus won six (five gold and one bronze) medals to place eighth in the medal table.
