MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Austria's Philipp Oswald won the doubles event in Houston. For 40-year-old Max Mirnyi it has become his 52nd ATP doubles title, BelTA informs.
The Belarusian-Austrian duo rallied past Andre Begemann of Germany and Croatia's Antonio Sancic 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 11/9 to capture their third team title and second of the year.
After reaching the Lugano final Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka jumped 14 spots to place 47th in the WTA rankings with the total of 1128 points. Aliaksandra Sasnovich is 56th, Victoria Azarenka is 95th, and Vera Lapko goes 111th.
The Belarusian women's tennis national team comprising Aryna Sabalenka, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Vera Lapko and Lidziya Marozava will take on Slovakia in the Fed Cup tie in Minsk on 21-22 April.
