MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) – Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Treat Huey of the Philippines claimed the doubles title of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco, Mexico. It is their first joint ATP title and 49th title in Max Mirnyi's professional career, BelTA has learned.

In the final the Belarusian-Filipino duo, seeded fourth, beat the Austrian-German duet of Alexander Peya and Philipp Petzschner in two sets 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

On their way to the podium Max Mirnyi and Treat Huey battled through Chris Guccione and Bernard Tomic 4-6, 6-3, 14-12, then defeated the Polish-Mexican duet of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Santiago Gonzalez 7-5, 6-2 and beat the first-seeded Columbian tandem Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

It was the second time Max Mirnyi played in the Acapulco final. In 2014 the Belarusian and his former partner Feliciano Lopez of Spain lost to Australia's Matthew Ebden and Kevin Anderson of South Africa 3-6, 3-6.

During his long professional career Max Mirnyi played in 92 ATP doubles finals and won 49 ATP doubles tournaments teaming up with different tennis players. His recent success (with Horia Tecau) was the victory at the tournament in Beijing in 2013.

In the men's singles final Austria's Dominic Thiem (World No.15) beat Bernard Tomic of Australia (21) 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-3.

In the women's singles final World No.24 Sloane Stephens of the United States defeated Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia (66) 6-4,4-6, 7-6 (7-5). The winner beat Belarus' Olga Govortsova (89) 6-4, 6-1 in the second round. Other finalist Dominika Cibulkova was to face Victoria Azarenka (14) in round two, but the Belarusian had to withdraw due to a wrist injury.
