Mirnyi, Huey reach quarterfinal in Nottingham

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) - Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Treat Huey of the Philippines have produced a good start at the Nottingham Open beating Mate Pavic of Croatia and Michael Venus of New Zealand 7-5, 6-3 in the first round, BelTA has learned.

In the quarterfinal the third-seeded Belarusian-Filipino duo will take on Oliver Marach of Austria and Fabrice Martin of France.

Elsewhere, Belarusian world number 288 Vladimir Ignatik secured a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Renzo Olivo of Argentina (World No. 153) in the first round of the Wimbledon qualifying. The Belarusian will now play Dennis Novikov of the United States (146). Another Belarusian Ilya Ivashko (235) lost to Tim Smyczek of the United States (125) 6-7 (3-7), 2-6 in the qualifying opener.

The Wimbledon main draw begins on 27 June.
