MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarus Max Mirnyi and Treat Huey of the Philippines have advanced to the doubles semifinal at the Delray Beach Open, BelTA has learned.
In the quarterfinal the Belarusian-Filipino duo saw off Tommy Haas of Germany and Vasek Pospisil of Canada 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. Earlier, Max Mirnyi and Treat Huey won the opener against Robert Lindstedt of Sweden and Michael Venus of New Zealand 7-5, 6-3. The Belarusian-Filipino tandem will play either the Bryan brothers of the United States or the Indian-Chinese pair of Leander Paes and Yen-Hsun Lu.
In the women's event in Budapest Aleksandra Sasnovich of Belarus, ranked 123rd in the world, will face world number 47 Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic in the quarterfinal. The Belarusian had to go through the qualification to make the main draw where she first upset Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium (World No.74) 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 and then Pauline Parmentier of France (World No.62) 7-6, 6-4.
The competitions in Delray Beach and Budapest will be over on 26 February.
