Minsk hosting FIBA Camp for Female Referees

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Minsk is playing host to a seminar for young basketball referees. The FIBA Europe Her World, Her Rules project for female referees is held in the Belarusian capital for the first time, BelTA has learned.

Minsk has welcomed female referees from Georgia, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, and Serbia, who, together with Belarusian referees, are taking part in theoretical and practical classes.

FIBA Instructor and Head of Refereeing of Finland Basketball Association Kati Nynas is a lecturer at the event. The guests of the camp are two female FIBA referees from Belarus Irina Konan and Lizaveta Famina.

The camp participants will have a unique opportunity to practice their theoretical knowledge, officiating at the games of the Semen Khalipsky Women's International Basketball Memorial. The U18 tournament will feature teams from Belarus, Latvia, Ukraine and Moldova, said Chairperson of the FIBA Europe Women's Commission, Secretary General of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Anastasia Marinina. According to her, the implementation of this project became possible thanks to close cooperation between FIBA-Europe and the Belarusian Basketball Federation. Knowing the attention paid to women's basketball in Belarus, the European Basketball Federation suggested Belarus to host a camp for young referees. Her World, Her Rules project is aimed at working not only with young referees but also with athletes, coaches and managers.
