Minsk Half Marathon 2018 expected to draw record numbers

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Organizers of the Minsk Half Marathon 2018 expect some 35,000 people to take part in the event, Chairman of the Belarusian Athletics Federation Vadim Devyatovsky told the media on 2 August, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of the Belarusian Athletics Federation, 30,000 people took part in the marathon last year. He added that the half marathon distance of 21km has already been chosen by twice as many people as in the previous year. This year the Minsk Half Marathon will welcome representatives of at least 40 countries.

In 2018 the Minsk Half Marathon will be held for the fourth time. The 21.1km half marathon will start at 9.00 on 9 September. The 5.5km and 10km marathons will kick off at 12.00. The event has the Road Race Bronze Label status of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and five stars of quality and safety of the European Athletics Association. The route will go through the center of the Belarusian capital.
