Men's EHF EURO 2022 host countries to be announced in Edinburgh in 2018

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – The hosts of the Men's EHF EURO 2022 will be elected during the European Handball Federation Congress in Edinburgh in 2018, BelTA has learned.

If the Belarus-Russia joint bid wins, the event will be co-hosted by Gomel, Brest and Minsk (Belarus) and by Saint Petersburg and Moscow (Russia). Belgium, Spain and France also have plans to submit a joint bid to host the Men's EHF EURO 2022. By the way, France will play host to the IHF World Men's Handball Championship in January 2017.

As BelTA reported earlier, the Russian Handball Federation and the Belarusian Handball Federation officially announced their plans to bid to co-host Men's EHF Euro 2022. An agreement was reached to set up a working group to prepare the Euro 2022 bid. Acting Director General of the Russian Handball Federation, Sydney Olympic champion Lev Voronin noted that Russia and Belarus are planning to develop a joint concept of the European championship by the spring of 2017. The application must undergo the harmonization procedures at all levels by the summer of 2017.
