MEGOC concludes agreements with European Games catering operators

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) has concluded agreements with major catering operators of the European Games, BelTA has learned.

“We should not forget that the upcoming games are a multisport event which will involve a lot of sport venues and catering operators. That is why we focus on ensuring the safety of catering. We also have to conform to the international standards. We have so far concluded agreements with the major catering operators. We are testing dishes from the athletes' menu and assessing the work of the personnel. We have also signed agreements with catering operators at the sport venues. Their menus are being designed and dishes tested,” MEGOC Head of Catering Yulia Kravchenko said said.

Belarus' chief sanitary doctor Nelly Gindyuk noted that Minsk Sanitary and Epidemiological Service has a lot of experience in overseeing mass events. “It is important to compare notes in order to organize work not only in the main catering facility in the Athletes' Village but also in all catering facilities at the sport venues that will bring together all client groups, participants and guests. Minsk Sanitary and Epidemiological Service and MEGOC have drawn up all necessary plans. We run training courses for the personnel who will work in catering facilities during the games. We have also inspected food suppliers, have taken samples, and are currently monitoring these companies. We are also keeping track of accommodation sites, catering facilities, and all other places of mass residence of Minsk's guests,” she added.

The issues of sanitary and epidemiological control during the European Games in Minsk have been discussed at the meeting of MEGOC with sanitary and epidemiological service experts of various levels. The main purpose of the discussion was to inform sanitary experts about the games, sport venues, catering organization process, and catering operators. The meeting was attended by specialists from hygiene and epidemiology centers of Minsk districts, Minsk Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, National Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health which will be accredited to oversee the events in the sport venues and catering facilities during the European Games. During the discussion, the specialists defined a strategy of measures on sanitary and epidemiology support of the European Games.
