Max Mirnyi nominated to IOC Athletes' Commission

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - Outstanding Belarusian tennis player, Olympic champion Max Mirnyi has been nominated as a candidate for the Athletes' Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

The decision was taken by the IOC Executive Board meeting in Lausanne on 5 December. The election of new 30 members to the IOC Athletes' Commission will take place during the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Belarus nominated aerialist Dmitry Dashchinsky as a candidate to the IOC Athletes' Commission in the past.

The IOC Athletes' Commission represents athletes' interests at Olympic Games, serves as a link between athletes and the IOC. Its mission is ensure that the athletes' viewpoint remains at the heart of the Olympic Movement decisions. The commission also participates in the evaluation of the candidate cities seeking to host the Olympic Games, monitor their organization and participate in the evaluation of the Olympic sports program.
