MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Belarus' Lidiya Marozava and Shuko Aoyama of Japan progressed to the round of Last 16 in Cincinnati's Wsstern & Southern Open 2018, BelTA informs.
In the women's doubles event opener the Belarusian-Japanese tandem needed sixty minutes to see off the Australian-Estonian duet of Daria Gavrilova and Anett Kontaveit 6-4, 6-2. Lidiya Marozava and Shuko Aoyama will next play the Hungarian-French duet of Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic.
Aryna Sabalenka (World No.34) will next play Czech's world number 8 Karolina Pliskova.
In Vancouver Belarus world number 100 Ilya Ivashka defeated Ukraine's world number 336 Ilya Marchenko 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the opener. The Belarusian will next take on France's world number 157 Quentin Halys.
