Mariya Trubach claims bronze at 2017 Summer Universiade

MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – Mariya Trubach of Belarus won bronze at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian finished third in the final event with the Ball scoring a total of 16,450 points. Gold went to Russia's Yekaterina Selezneva (17,000 points). Second was her teammate Yulia Bravikova (16,750 points).

Anna Bozhko clinched bronze in the Individual All-Around and finished seventh in the final with the Ball (14,800 points).

Belarus has so far bagged nine medals in Taipei. Gold medals were collected by Irina Zhuk and Ilya Shimanovich (twice). Silver medals went to Elvira German, Anna Malyshchik, Pavel Boreisha and Darya Naumova. Bronze medals were won by Anna Bozhko and Mariya Trubach.

The competitions in Taipei are featuring more than 7,600 athletes from 142 countries. A total of 275 medals events are held in 21 sports. Belarus has fielded 34 athletes from 13 universities. Belarusians are competing in fencing, weightlifting, taekwondo, swimming, roller sport, table tennis, athletics, wushu and rhythmic gymnastics. The 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei will be over on 30 August. Belarus ranked 16th with four gold, three silver and five bronze medals at the previous Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea.
