MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Short track speed skater Marina Zuyeva of Belarus won the second gold of the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian clocked 7:20.11 to win the women's 5000m event. Second was Nene Sakai of Japan (7:35.14). Bronze went to Lee Jung-su of the Republic of Korea (7:49.09).
Marina Zuyeva claimed her first gold medal in the 3,000m event.
Mariya Shkanova took bronze in the Super-G, 1.6 seconds behind the winner, Asa Ando of Japan (2:25.68). Silver went to the Slovenian skier, 1.13 seconds back.
Earlier, Mariya Shkanova finished second in the Alpine Skiing Combined event in 2:10.02.
Belarus is currently seventh in the 2017 Winter Universiade overall standings, with two gold, two silver and one bronze medals. The standings are topped by Russia (15 gold, 17 silver, 8 bronze medals).
