Liubou Charkashyna awarded IOC Athlete Role Model title

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) - The International Olympic Committee has announced 12 new Athlete Role Models (ARMs) who will support, advise and inspire the young athletes taking part in the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian national Olympic Committee.

Liubou Charkashyna of Belarus is among them. She is the bronze prizewinner of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the Chairman of the Athletes Commission of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), many-time prizewinner of the world and European rhythmic gymnastics championships.

In Buenos Aires Liubou Charkashyna will act as a mentor for the young participants. She will share her experience and offer advice, support the young gymnasts during training and at the competitions, as well as in the Youth Olympic Village during a series of educational activities and workshops. Among the 12 new Athlete Role Models are popular athletes from Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, the United States, Portugal, Argentina and Chile.
