Ivashka loses in St. Petersburg

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 135 Ilya Ivashka lost to Russia's world number 38 Andrey Rublev 6-4, 0-6, 4-6 in the first round of the tournament in St. Petersburg, BelTA has learned.

Earlier, Belarus' world number 119 Egor Gerasimov advanced to the round of Last 16 after defeating World No.145 Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 7-5, 6-2. The Belarusian will face France's world number 59 Adrian Mannarino for a spot in the quarterfinal.

In the doubles opener Belarus' Andrei Vasilevski and Nicholas Monroe of the United States will take on the Russian duo Evgeny Donskoy and Konstantin Kravchuk.

In the Guangzhou Open, Belarus' Lidziya Marozava and Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia saw off the Dutch-Indian tandem Lesley Kerkhove and Ankita Raina 6-3, 6-1 in the round of last 16.

The tournament in Guangzhou will be over on 21 September. The competitions in St. Petersburg will complete on 22 September.
