MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – The women's 7.5K sprint of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 8 in Presque Isle was won by clean-shooting Gabriela Soukalova of the Czech Republic, BelTA informs.
The Czech biathlete clocked 20:02.2 to claim gold. Second was Susan Dunklee of the United States, also shooting clean, 17.8 seconds back. Third went to Krystyna Guzik of Poland, shooting clean, 19.1 seconds back.
Irina Krivko performed best out of four Belarusians athletes, coming in 13th, 59.4 back, with clean shooting. Anastasia Duborezova was 24th (1:29.4 back; two penalties), Kristina Ilchenko finished 56th (2:23.4 back; 3), Maria Panfilova was 85th (4:08.7 back; 3).
Earlier, Johannes Boe of Norway won the men's sprint in a clean-shooting 24:38.8. Russia's Anton Shipulin also shot clean but finished second, 27.9 seconds back. Third went to Martin Fourcade of France, with one penalty, 28.9 seconds back.
Yuri Lyadov of Belarus finished 26th, with one penalty, 1:48.2 back. Vladimir Chepelin was 36th (2:05.7; 3), Roman Yelentov finished 55th (2:48.0; 4), Dmitry Dyuzhev came in 72nd (3:26.5; 5).
