HC Yunost Minsk open Tatra Cup in Slovakia with win

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – HC Yunost Minsk opened the Tatra Cup 2017 in Slovakia with a win against Hungary's Dunaujvaros 7-3 (1-0, 3-2, 4-0), BelTA has learned.

Trailing behind 0-3 midway through the second period, the Belarusian team found strength to battle back and level off the game before the second break. In the final stanza Mikhail Zakharov's men scored four more times to seal a 7-3 victory.

HC Yunost Minsk will face HC Kosice on 18 August.

This year's tournament is featuring six teams divided into two groups. Competing for the Tatra Cup are five countries: Slovakia's HK Poprad and HC Kosice, France's Nice HCA, Germany's Bayreuth, and Hungary's Dunaujvaros.

The medal games will be held on 20 August.

Mikhail Zakharov's team is taking part in the competitions for the second time. In summer 2015 HC Yunost Minsk finished second after Austria's Graz 99ers, surpassing HK Poprad and HC Slavia Praha.
