HC Dinamo Minsk second best attended club in Europe

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) - Dinamo Minsk from Belarus has ranked second most-attended hockey club in Europe in the recent IIHF study, BelTA has learnt.

The annual attendance study of the European league hockey is led by Swiss club SC Bern for the 16th consecutive time. The club from the Swiss capital averaged 16,399 spectators during the regular season.

The Belarusian entry in the Russian-based Kontinental Hockey League increased its average to 13,230 and moved up from sixth back to second place. The top five also included two German clubs: Kolner Haie with 12,662 fans in average and Eisbaren Berlin (12,052). Russia's SKA St. Petersburg (11,735) placed fifth.

Dinamo Minsk was named most-attended team in the KHL's 2016/17 regular season. Craig Woodcroft's men finished the regular season fifth in the Western Conference. The Belarusian team failed to advance in the playoff losing the first-round series to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 1-4.
